Comparing deep and soft palettes in daylight

Before testing more makeup shades I am trying to understand my undertone more carefully. My phone photos look different in the kitchen than they do near a window. My simple plan is to stand near a window with indirect natural light. I want to place a white card and a muted gray scarf near my face. Instead of trusting a single photograph I will keep the light and camera position consistent. I found this skin undertone test camera helps me focus on the setup before judging the result. Once I have those notes I will look at foundation samples without changing the lighting again. Please let me know if you have found a better neutral reference for this kind of home test? I know a camera cannot replace seeing real skin in changing light, and I am not expecting a perfect answer from one home experiment. My goal is simply to make the next store visit less confusing. Keeping a short record of conditions should also help me recognize when a surprising result is probably caused by lighting rather than my actual coloring.
