Comparing scarf colors at a library portrait event
Comparing scarf colors at a library portrait event
We are sorting a box of family jewelry, and the color question has become more interesting than expected. Some pieces are silver toned, others are gold toned, and several combine both metals in the same design. Our aim is to find pieces people will wear and preserve the stories that make them worth keeping. I find it easy to notice whether I like a design, but harder to describe the effect of its metal tone. Comparing a broad pendant with a fine chain seems unfair because their size changes how much light they reflect. Could similarly sized plain samples make the first comparison clearer before we try the more elaborate designs? My reading has led me toward color analysis but I would rather treat any result as an observation than let it overrule a sentimental attachment. How would you separate metal color from size and finish, and what would you compare before drawing conclusions?
